Coupon Codes

Micah Jelovich -

* See additional notes below for issue uploading more than 5,000 coupon codes at a time.

If you have a point of sale system, or e-commerce platform that can give you unique, one-time use coupon codes for each promotion or offer you run, then this is a feature that you'll be interested in. How this works is you upload these unique, one-time use coupon codes into a message, and Tatango inserts them individually into each message, which makes it so that each subscriber receives a their own unique, one-time use code to redeem the offer with.

  1. When creating a scheduled message to either all of your subscribers at the same time, or just to new subscribers after they've opted-in, click on the coupon icon, which can be found just below where you enter your message.
  2. Click Add New, and a blank field will appear.
  3. In the blank field, copy and paste your coupon codesYou can enter as many as you want, but you MUST enter them one on top of the other, not side by side.
  4. When finished, click the orange Upload button.
  5. To confirm that your coupon codes were uploaded succesfully, check to make sure the number of codes that the website is now displaying matches the amount of codes you imported.
  6. When you've confirmed that you've correctly uploaded your coupon codes, find the coupon code merge tag at the bottom of the box. This merge tag should look something like this {c1234}, but could be shorter or longer in length depending on how many characters your longest coupon code you imported was. Make sure that there's enough available room in your message to insert the merge tag.
  7. Click the orange Insert button to the right of your coupon merge tag, and the merge tag will be automatically inserted into the message above. This merge tag will sit in the message while you create it, as a placeholder for all those coupon codes you uploaded. When you send the message, we'll replace that merge tag with a unique coupon code for each subscriber.
  8. That's it, finish your message as you normally would, then send/schedule/save.

Additional Notes

  • Campaigns can not use the same coupon code for multiple messages. Each campaign can only have one of each unique coupon codes.
  • We're currently experiencing an issue with adding more than 5,000 coupon codes to a message at a time. There's two ways to get around this. 1) Upload 5,000 coupon codes, save the message, then edit the message and add an additional 5,000 coupon codes. Repeat this process for however many coupon codes you need to upload. You can also just email us and we can upload them on our end.

  • If you are unable to access this feature that means you are on a grandfathered account. Please email us to ask about upgrading your account
