Subscriber Name Merge Tag

Steve Rose -

Are you interested in personalizing the messages you send to your subscribers by including their first name's in the messages they receive from you? If so, you're in luck as that's what a subscriber name merge tag does. To use this feature, it's a good idea that first Tatango has your subscriber's first names, and this can only be given to Tatango when subscribers opt-in, either through a double opt-in, or a website integration. If we don't have their first name, and you use the first name merge tag, we'll use the word "friend", instead of their actual first name.

Instructions

  1. When creating a scheduled message to either all of your subscribers at the same time, or just to new subscribers after they've opted-in, use the merge tag {1stname} in your message.
  2. That's it, finish your message as you normally would, then send/schedule/save.

Additional Notes

  • To use this feature, it's a good idea that first Tatango has your subscriber's first names, and this can only be given to Tatango when subscribers opt-in, either through a double opt-in, or a website integration. • Merge tags only work in scheduled messages, not opt-in messages, system messages, etc.
